Meet Jackson, our Lloyd Cockermouth Business Development Manager

Jackson started his career with us as a Trainee Sales Executive back in 2017 and gained his BMW Sales Accreditation. Fast forward to 2024, and he has progressed into the exciting role of Lloyd Cockermouth Business Development Manager.



We caught up with him to see how he is finding his new role so far…

So, for those who don’t know me, I’m Jackson and I’m 26 years old and I have worked for Lloyd Motor Group for 8 years. I left school at the age of 18 and went straight into the Motor Trade. Outside of work, I will always be up to something, whether that be spending time with family, doing some jobs on the house, playing the guitar, or even nipping to the local pub in the village.

Congratulations on your new role, can you tell us a bit about your career with Lloyd Motor Group so far?

My journey has been great in all honesty. I feel as though I’m lucky to have started at such a young age which has allowed me to gather a lot of experience very quickly. I started as a Trainee Sales Executive and gained my BMW Sales Accreditation back in 2017. Here we are now, progressing onto something else. Even before all of this, my family have always purchased cars from Lloyd Motor Group, so I even remember being in the retailers when I was a child. It’s lovely that some of those people I remember from back then are now colleagues and managers of mine today.

Well, it’s no secret that Lloyd Motor Group have always had a fantastic reputation. I liked the idea of working for a family-run business because you are valued, and you are more than just a number. As far as vehicle brands go, I have always had an interest in the BMW Group, and I wanted to work with the brand as soon as I could. The Business Development role was offered to me, and I thought it’s an exciting opportunity to get even more people from both the retail and business perspective driving our products.

Getting to work in a showroom surrounded by brand new vehicles is great! I have always been a people person so having the opportunity to meet people from all over the country and then supply them with their perfect car suits me perfectly. Remaining in contact with the customer every six months to see how they are/how the car is going is very important as it builds that relationship and keeps them coming back to you when they wish to change vehicle.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

A typical day in my new role will still consist of diary work, reaching out to new potential customers closely followed by maintaining the relationships with existing customers I’ve built over the years. The main aim is to have as many people as possible driving our products, in both the Retail and Business channels.

That is a difficult question to answer as the BMW Group have made some very special pieces over the years… If I tried to narrow it down, it would be between two models. One being still in production and that is the 8 Series Coupe. The second is one that was only produced for 5 years and that’s the BMW Z8.

There are lots of new model releases coming out in the coming months which is always exciting. Having taken on this new role, I am looking forward to broadening my skill set, meeting new customers and supplying more vehicles in both the retail and business channels.
