Tim is taking on the Cateran Yomp!
On the 7-8th June 2025, our brilliant Group Lloyd Bodyshop Manager, Tim Parkinson, will be joining hundreds of Yomper’s as they take on the Cateran Yomp in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund.
Based on an infamous military march, the Cateran Yomp is the ultimate challenge for outdoor adventurers. Over the course of 24 hrs, participants must complete a demanding 54-mile hike across the rugged foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains of rural Perthshire.
But the Yomp isn’t just about testing limits – it’s about giving back. Every step will help raise vital funding for soldiers, veterans, and their families, supporting the incredible work of ABF (Army Benevolent Fund) The Soldiers’ Charity.
We caught up with Tim to see how he is preparing for the challenge...
Hi Tim, what first inspired you to take on the Cateran Yomp?
“Through our Lloyd Aftercare account manager Dave Perkins, I had listened to Dave and his friends go on some amazing adventures to raise money for the Army Benevolent fund. Dave knew I was a keen fell walker and when they decided in the Autumn of 2024 what their 2025 adventure was going to be, he knew I would want to be involved. It’s the toughest endurance event of its kind in the UK, and while it’s daunting, I couldn’t be more excited to begin this journey.”
Can you tell us about your chosen charity?
“The charity involves itself in variety of ways, they award grants to individuals and families, and fund leading charities and organisations to ensure help is there when you need it. This can be to aid independent living after injury, elderly care, mental wellbeing, housing, training, and education. That’s a mission I’m proud to get behind, and it’s the thought of making a difference that’s pushing me through my training.”
What do you think will be the biggest challenge on the day and how do you plan to overcome it?
“Obviously, the distance, but keeping fuelled and hydrated once the tiredness kicks in will be important part of finishing the challenge.”

How have you been preparing for the big day?
Have you set yourself a time that you would like to complete the walk in?
“To complete the challenge in 24 hours will be achievement but 21 hours is my target.”
How will you be celebrating once you’ve completed the challenge?
“A Long hot bath, maybe an ice bath first!”
On behalf of the Lloyd Motor Group team, we would like to wish Tim the best of luck for the big day. We look forward to seeing how many donations he can raise for this incredible cause.
