Service Advisor Steve, takes a stroll with a difference.

Company News

It was a stroll on the beach with a difference recently for our Lloyd South Lakes BMW Senior Service Advisor, Steve Stowe as he took on the challenge of the Cross Bay Walk.

Raising money with his wife for the charity Dreamflight, Steve set off on the morning of 19th May from Arnside and began the Morecambe Bay Walk which takes you across the largest expanse of tidal mudflats and sand in the United Kingdom. At just under 8 miles, the challenging walk is suitable for anyone who is comfortable walking over uneven terrain for 4 to 5 hours.

Dreamflight is an amazing charity that takes 192 children aged between 8-14 with serious illness or disability on the holiday of a lifetime to the theme parks of Orlando, Florida. Steve, whose wife Wendy has been involved with the charity for 18 years, added For so many, Dreamflight is not just a holiday, it can be a life changing experience for children who really deserve this opportunity”.

The Northwest group of Dreamflight are called The Pirates, where Wendy is Group Leader, take 16 local children on this holiday of a lifetime, all nominated by local doctors and medical professionals. The children are accompanied by volunteer escorts, mostly from the medical professions, together with some non-medical escorts – people that have supported and fundraised for Dreamflight throughout the year.

The team at Lloyd BMW South Lakes also took part in a charity bake sale to raise donations along side Steve's walk.

When asked about the experience steve commented:

“One of the toughest parts of the walk was the flatness of the terrain believe it or not! I do quite a lot of fell walking, but I think because this was so flat and, in the sand, I was using muscles that normally don’t get much resistance.”

“It was a fantastic day, and we shared the walk with some amazing people doing the walk for many different reasons. We were delighted to do this walk for Dreamflight and look forward to more challenges to come in support of this special charity.”

Everyone at BMW South Lakes could not be more proud of Steve and this fantastic achievement. To make Dreamflight a reality, £1 million needs to be raised every year. For more information or to make a donation, visit: Dreamflight - Home
