Congratulations Abbie, can you talk us through the process of becoming a certified Service Advisor?
“Becoming a certified Service Advisor was such an interesting experience! I have learned so much, from understanding every step of the customer journey to getting stuck into product knowledge. It was great to see how it all connects to ensure we are providing customers the best service we can. Throughout the assessment, we were tested on everything we’d learned, which really helped tie it all together. Overall, it was a brilliant experience, and being part of such an amazing brand made it even better!”
Can you talk us through a typical day within your role?
“No two days are ever the same, but that’s what I love about it! I usually start by checking the day’s bookings and making sure everything is ready for customers coming in. I greet them, chat through any issues with their car, and explain what work needs to be done. Throughout the day, I’m in constant contact with the workshop and keep customers updated on how things are going. There’s a bit of everything, problem solving, organising, and making sure customers leave happy. It’s busy but really rewarding!”
What first drew you towards a career in service/What is your favourite aspect of being a Service Advisor?
“I’ve always loved cars, but I also really enjoy working with people, so this role felt like the perfect fit. What I love most is building trust with customers, being able to explain things clearly and making sure they feel confident about the work we’re doing. Seeing customers drive away happy and knowing I’ve helped make their day a little easier is the best part of the job!”
What can someone expect when they book in at Lloyd Blackpool?
“When you book in at Lloyd Blackpool, you can expect a smooth and friendly experience from start to finish. We’re here to make things as easy as possible, whether that’s explaining what work your car needs or keeping you updated while it’s with us. We’re all about clear communication, no surprises, and making sure you leave feeling confident and cared for. Plus, you’ll always be greeted with a smile!”
What advice would you give someone wanting to start their career in the automotive industry?
“My biggest piece of advice? Be open to learning and get stuck in! The automotive industry is always changing, so staying curious and up to date is super important. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and take on new challenges. Strong people skills are a huge plus too, whether it’s talking to customers or working with your team. Most importantly, be passionate about what you do, and the rest will follow!”
The Lloyd Blackpool team are delighted for Abbie and look forward to seeing her progress into the next stage of her service career.
