Hi Sam, tell us about yourself!

"Hi, I’m Sam! I am Brand Marketing Executive at Lloyd Motor Group for Jaguar and Land Rover and I am organising a coffee morning for Alzheimer’s Society on Saturday 19th October.

"I first joined the Lloyd Motor Group marketing department in June 2022 as Group Aftersales Social Media and Marketing Assistant, later swapping from Aftersales to Sales, taking on the role of Brand Marketing Executive for Jaguar and Land Rover. Gaining experience in both Sales and Aftersales has been so rewarding.

"Outside of work I love spending time with my family and friends and going on walks with our family dog, Baxter. Me and my now fiancé recently got engaged too, so I am about to enter the world of wedding planning, which is so exciting!"

What can people expect at your Coffee Morning?

"I host the Coffee Morning in a local village hall where we sell lots of cakes and bakes – all homemade of course! – as well as teas, coffees and soft drinks. My family and friends all help with the baking, serving teas and coffees, and even help me with the cleaning up afterwards, so I am very lucky.

"This year I am also doing a raffle with a range of great prizes. Carlisle United Football Club have very kindly donated a signed football that will be included as one of the prizes! I am very grateful to them and the local community who have also been extremely generous in donating prizes, with prize donations from The Sally in Irthington, Asda, Tesco, Lloyd BMW Carlisle, and more".

What inspired you to host the coffee morning event?

"My Pa (Grandpa). Pa is living with Dementia, having been diagnosed in 2016. I wanted to do something to try and raise some money to help with research and possible treatments. Pa loves a coffee, cake, and a chat so he loves coming along to the Coffee Mornings I run.

"This will actually be the third coffee morning I have organised to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. The first one was in 2022 where I raised £505 and then another in 2023 where I raised £625. They take a lot of planning and it can be very nerve-wracking in the lead up hoping that people will come, but both years I have been overwhelmed with the amount of support I have received.

"This year I am aiming high and hoping to raise as close to £1,000 as I can".

Tell us about the charity you’re raising money for.

"So, I am raising money for the amazing Alzheimer’s Society UK. Alzheimer’s society is the UK’s leading Dementia charity and provides crucial support to people throughout their experiences with Dementia. It supports those living with the condition and provides support for their carers and families.

"Alzheimer’s Society also invest in ground-breaking research into what causes Dementia, how to care for those who have it as well as research into prevention and working towards a cure. I have witnessed firsthand the support they provide, so it is important to me to be able to give back to them where I can".

What’s your favourite thing to bake?

"Oh, this is a tough one! I would have to say either a cake or caramel shortbread!"

Are you a coffee or tea person?

"Weirdly enough…neither! I have never drunk tea and I tried drinking coffee in the office for a little while to see if I would end up liking it but I soon stopped".

Good luck with the Coffee Morning, Sam! If you'd like to donate to this fantastic cause, tap the button below.
