MEET OUR LLOYD BMW BLACKPOOL APPRENTICE TECHNICIANS
Tell us a bit about what your apprenticeship involves and your current role.
Aiden - My apprenticeship involves learning all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair from routine servicing to diagnosing complex faults. I spend time in the workshop working alongside experienced technicians and developing my skills on BMW’s latest models. I also attend training sessions to build my technical knowledge and keep up to date with new technologies.
Why did you choose to do a Technician apprenticeship at Lloyd BMW Blackpool?
Luke - I've always been passionate about cars, especially BMWs, and I wanted a career that would let me work hands-on with them every day. Lloyd BMW Blackpool stood out to me because of their reputation for quality and their commitment to training apprentices properly. The opportunity to work with such advanced vehicles and learn from skilled professionals made it an easy choice for me.
What are you enjoying the most about your apprenticeship?
Harris - I really enjoy the hands-on experience of working in the workshop. Every day is different, and there’s always something new to learn. The team here is really supportive, and it’s great to be able to work on such high-tech cars. I also enjoy the challenge of diagnosing faults and seeing the progress in my own skills as I gain more experience.

Can you share a lesson or skill you've learned during your apprenticeship so far that you have found particularly valuable?
Aiden - One of the most valuable things I’ve learned is the importance of attention to detail. Whether it’s torquing bolts to the correct specification or following diagnostic procedures properly, even the smallest mistakes can have a big impact. Taking your time and doing things properly is something that’s really been drilled into me, and I know it’ll be important throughout my career.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to start a technician apprenticeship?
Luc - Go for it! If you enjoy working with cars and problem-solving, this is a great career path. Be prepared to work hard and always ask questions—everyone in the workshop started as a learner at some point, so don’t be afraid to get stuck in. Also, stay organised with your coursework and practical training because it all builds towards your qualifications.
What has been your favourite model to work on?
Josh - I’d have to say the BMW M3. There’s just something about working on an M car that feels special. The performance, the engineering, and even just hearing the engine start up after working on it is really rewarding.
What has been your standout highlight from your apprenticeship so far?
Luc- One of the biggest highlights for me was successfully diagnosing a tricky electrical fault on a customer’s car with minimal help. At the start of my apprenticeship, I would have been completely lost, but being able to use the diagnostic tools properly and solve the issue felt like a real achievement.
Can you share a specific project you worked on and feel proud about?
Josh - One project I’m particularly proud of was helping with an engine rebuild. It was a long job with lots of intricate steps, but seeing the engine go from completely stripped down to running smoothly again was an amazing experience. Being trusted to assist with something so important gave me a real confidence boost.

MEET ROMAN - APPRENTICE TECHNICIAN - LLOYD NEWCASTLE BMW
Why did you choose to do a Technician apprenticeship at Lloyd BMW Newcastle?
I wanted to be a technician from a younger age. BMW was the brand I wanted to work for and couldn’t believe it when I was offered the position. I was lucky enough to be invited in for a 2-day trial and absolutely loved it! 1 week later I got offered the position and said yes without hesitation.
Can you share a lesson or skill you've learned during your apprenticeship so far that you have found particularly valuable?
I didn’t have any experience before working here, and I didn’t know what way to turn a ratchet, but I feel like I have learnt many new skills and life lessons in my 2 and a half years here! This is all thanks to my colleagues around me and especially my mentor who is a senior technician, because of him I am able to regularly diagnose vehicle faults on my own.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to start a Technician apprenticeship?
It goes by very quickly, which means that you need to try your best every day. It is so important to apply yourself and do the best you can whilst aspiring to be the best version of yourself. I would advise to apply yourself outside of work and gain as much product knowledge and experience that you possibly can. Really work hard and go for it, it is ok to make mistakes but so important to learn from them.
What has been your favourite model to work on?
My favourite model to work on has to be the M8.
