William Downham - General Sales Manager  

How did you get started in the motor trade?
"I was working as chef at a local hotel and got to know the General Manager of the Vauxhall dealer in Carlisle. He asked if I had ever thought of a career in the motor trade. My answer was no however, after some thought, I decided to make a complete career change and take the opportunity he gave me…that was back in November 1985 and the rest is history."    
If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Japan.

What makes you proud to be part of the Sales team at Lloyd Jaguar Land Rover Carlisle?
“Working with winners with a can-do attitude!”
If you were on Mastermind, what would you specialist subject be (other than cars)?
“I have been a lifelong Carlisle United supporter, so this would be my Mastermind subject”

“If you want something done give it to the busiest person in the room” Benjamin Franklin.
What’s one fun fact most people don’t know about you?
“I am training to a win a half marathon before I turn 35"

What’s your favourite thing about being a Used Car Sales Manager at Lloyd Jaguar Land Rover Carlisle?
"I work for a great company and have learnt some important traits from previous and current team members. Influencing my experience and helping my team succeed and grow into great sales executives is very rewarding and satisfying."
What’s one place you haven’t been to yet that’s at the top of your travel bucket list?
"Travelling has always been a great passion of mine and my bucket list just gets longer and longer each year. Macho Picchu is high on the list so that is one that I need to score off."

What do you think is the most important quality for success as a Sales Executive?
"Being honest and doing what you said you were going to do, when you said you were going to do it are some of the most important traist as a Sales Executive. People buy from people so being likeable and approachable is just as important as knowledge"
What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet?
"I've been up most of the big fells in the Lake District but never been to Snowdon or Ben Nevis, so at some point I'd definetely like to do both."

What do you think is the most important quality for success as a Sales Executive?
"I would say organisation. I find that there are so many different aspects to sales that happen behind the scenes in regard to the preparation. It is important to be organised and ensure everything is completed to the highest standard to deliver the car to customers’ expectations, as well going above and beyond to deliver a great customer experience."
What’s one film or book that you think everyone should experience at least once?
"Eric Thomas – You Owe You – a book everyone should read."

What’s the best part about working at Lloyd Jaguar Land Rover Carlisle?
"The best part of working for Lloyd Jaguar Land Rover Carlisle is I that don’t feel like just a number. It’s a very busy environment and the buzz you get from selling and delivering cars with excellent customer service is great! I'm like a dream maker not a car salesman."
What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet?
"One thing I have always wanted to try is to play the guitar or the saxophone…or to get a hole in one on the golf course.

Cain Charlton - Used Car Sales Executive  

What part of the sales process do you find most enjoyable?
"I like creating the walk around videos we send to the customers. However, I really do enjoy the whole process of getting to know the customers as individuals and just helping them find a car that works for their needs."
What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet?
"I've always wanted to do a track day at the Nürburgring."

Victoria Little - Used Car Sales Executive 

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone new to the industry?
"Speak to as many people as you can as that’s the way to learn quickly. Try to be as organised as you can as it will make everything run more smoothly."
