Meet Neil, Business Development Manager at Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle

Company News

Neil has recently joined Lloyd Motor Group as our Business Development Manager at Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle. We caught up with him to see how he's finding the new role and his experience with us so far!

Hello Neil, congratulations on your role as Business Development Manager. Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Neil Richardson, I’m 45 and I’m from Carlisle. I’m married to my wife Ruth, who is a chartered building surveyor, and we have an 11 year old son called Charlie. As well as collecting records, I'm also a Carlisle United fan… and I coach my son’s U11 football team, the Stanwix Hornets.

Can you talk us through a typical day in your role as Business Development Manager at Lloyd Land Rover / Lloyd Jaguar Carlisle?

I’m very new to the role and no two days have been the same so far however, I would say a typical day would start with a cup of tea while checking emails. My first fortnight has mainly been getting up to speed with the various systems and processes. I’ve been over to the Northeast delivering parts and meeting parts managers and I’m currently down in Solihull for my welcome to JLR. Today’s highlight has been off road driving a Defender at the training centre!

What’s one thing that excites you about in your new role?

I love being out and about and meeting new people especially after spending nearly ten years of my career based in an office. Between 2005 and 2015, I worked at a a telecoms company and my role involved a lot of travel which I’ve missed, so I’m looking forward to getting back out on the road!

What advice would you give to someone who’s just starting out in their career in the motor trade?

Knowledge is key. Be prepared. Use your initiative and don’t be afraid to ask questions. People will go out of their way to help you.

What’s your favourite way to spend an evening after work?

I love nothing more than kicking back on the sofa with a good show on Netflix and a beer.

If you could invite three people to a dinner party, dead or alive, who would you pick?

Bob Mortimer, Paul McCartney and Stephen Fry.

Everyone at Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle would like to wish Neil the best of luck and look forward to seeing him continue to excel in his new role. If you would like more information on Genuine Approved and Trade Parts, you can contact Neil and his team here
