Meet Jonathon, our Lloyd Carlisle Sales Executive
Jonathon has been part of the Lloyd Carlisle Volvo team for only six months and has recently progressed from his position of Product Genius to Sales Executive. Read on to find out more about his career journey with us so far!

Congratulations on your new role, Jonathon! Tell us a bit about yourself.
Thank you very much! My name is Jonathon (affectionately known as Jimmy in the workplace) I'm 27 and I live in Carlisle but I'm originally from London. I very recently became a Sales Executive at Lloyd Volvo Carlisle.
Can you tell us about your career journey with us, from where you started to how you got to where you are today?
I started working at Lloyd Volvo around 6 months ago as a Product Genius, a role in which I enjoyed very much! My aim was always to move into sales once I'd gained a bit of experience in the motor trade, however I didn't think it would be this soon! An opportunity in sales presented itself so I spoke to my manager, Jamie, and a couple of hours later, I'd been offered the job on a trial basis!
Can you talk us through a typical day in your new role as a Sales Executive?
A typical day (if there is such a thing) for me consists of making sure I'm fully up to date with my diary, making follow-up calls, responding to emails, creating unique, personalised walkaround videos for customers and just trying to keep on top of everything. It's very challenging at times but it makes thing all-the-more enjoyable.
What's your favourite thing about your new role at Lloyd Volvo Carlisle?
My favourite thing about my new role is definitely the fact that I'm now facing a whole load of new challenges and the new skills set that I've gained from it. Even though I've only been a Sales Executive for about a month, I feel as though I've developed a whole new confidence and attitude, as well as working on my organisational skills.
What advice would you give to someone who’s just starting out in their career in the motor trade?
The best advice I could give is to just go for it! Ask as many questions as you can, get involved with things and show that you're keen to learn and progress. Initiative goes a long way but not being scared to ask question when you're unsure of things can often go a lot further.
What’s your favourite way to spend a weekend?
I'm the type of person that needs to be busy, so as long as I'm doing an activity of some description, whether it be, seeing friends, playing darts, or even just going for a drive, as long as I'm active and on the go, I'm a happy boy.
What was your first car and what do you currently drive now?
My first car was a 2005 Hyundai Accent which I got on Facebook Marketplace for £180. I now drive a BMW M135i and a Volvo EX30 as my company car...how times change 😊
