Meet Jamie, our General Sales Manager at Lloyd North Tyneside

Although Jamie is a recent addition to Lloyd North Tyneside, he's no stranger to Lloyd Motor Group; He began his journey with us in 2011 at Lloyd Carlisle MINI as a Trainee Vehicle Progressor, steadily working his way up the ranks. Now, he takes on the exciting role of overseeing sales for both BMW and MINI at Lloyd North Tyneside.

With his wealth of experience gained from many years with Lloyd Motor Group, Jamie brings invaluable expertise to the team. Keep reading to learn more about Jamie!
 

Tell us about your journey at Lloyd Motor Group so far, and how you became General Sales Manager at Lloyd North Tyneside.

"I started with Lloyd Motor Group in 2011, as a Trainee Vehicle Progressor / Sales Executive with the MINI brand in Carlisle. Despite having a couple of years away from the company in the middle of my journey, my heart very much lies with Lloyd Motor Group and its principles. My career progressed from a trainee role into a fully-fledged sales role, then onto Used Car Manager, MINI Brand Manager and now General Sales Manager of the latest Lloyd acquisition, North Tyneside BMW & MINI. The company and its leaders are hugely enthusiastic in developing people, and I am a testament to that. One thing I have heard from my first day with the company until now is that ‘it’s all about the people'".
 

What does a typical day look like for you as General Sales Manager?

"I drink coffee and twirl around on a comfy chair all day! Not really… With the risk of sounding a little sad, I have the best job in the world. I get to work with some of the most enthusiastic, genuine, and humorous people on the planet. The magic of a good sales team is in the people, process, and customer experience - something we have in bucket-loads here at North Tyneside.

"My role is to coach, develop and encourage those around me, to ensure we deliver an industry leading experience for our customers. The only way to sustainably achieve success in business is to grow a team of great people around you. My progress is a result of the brilliant people I learn from on a daily basis. So, to summarise, I ask lots of questions, learn from the answers and try to encourage the same from our team!"

How do you ensure the sales team stay motivated and focused on providing the best possible customer experience every day?

"The recipe for motivation is in education. 'Whatever the question, education is the answer' is one of my favourite quotes.

"Also, Sales Executives are people - people who get up on a morning with the same issues and problems as everyone else. I have found that encouraging, sharing best practice, and proper teamwork will spread the load of life’s demands. In such a fast-paced industry, with hugely high standards, knowing you can trust those around you is paramount to staying motivated. All that and really, really bad jokes!”
 

What's one thing people might be surprised to learn about you outside of work?

"Well, besides spending my time with my wonderful fiancé, and my two cocker-spaniels (Bernie & Dexter), my time is spent obsessing over ways of hurting myself, mentally and physically, on two wheels. I am a proud motorcycle trials rider, competing all over the UK in competitive events. I also really enjoy cooking and have been known to make a huge mess in the kitchen!”
 

What's one thing on your bucket list you're determined to tick off?

"Get Lloyd North Tyneside to win the prestigious BMW & MINI Retailer of the Year awards!”
