Meet Jake, our General Sales Manager at Lloyd Colne BMW

Jake has a wealth of experience in the motor trade and has been part of the Lloyd Colne team for 8 years. He has recently been promoted from his position of MINI Brand Manager to General Sales Manager at Lloyd Colne BMW.
Within his new role, Jake oversees all sales operations and continues to support his team in achieving success and delivering exceptional customer service. Read on to find out more about his new role.
Congratulations on your new role Jake, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m a very busy guy with work and three children waiting for me at home! I love family days out in the countryside, trips over to the lakes or a beach day at Lytham St Annes – we like a good walk followed up by a lovely pub lunch or tea. I used to play football at a decent level and still enjoy playing today. At 42 years old, once a week I still show the youngsters how it's done!
Can you tell us about your career journey with us, from where you started to how you got to where you are today?
I left my Business Manager role in Bolton after 10 years - mainly due to the long commute – to become the Business Manager at Lloyd Colne in September 2016. I very quickly realised what a good decision I’d made when Bryan Lloyd came to personally introduce himself and spent 30 minutes with me asking about me and my family. This really hit home a feeling of not just being a number but being a name and valued. Within 3 months, I had the opportunity to move up to MINI Brand Manager which I grabbed. I was in this role for 8 years and I have to say I absolutely loved my time there. When I saw the opportunity present itself for the General Sales Manager position at Lloyd Colne BMW, I put myself forward and was fortunate enough to be offered the role!
Talk us through a typical day in your role.
There isn’t a typical day as a General Sales Manager at Lloyd Colne BMW but I can say my main goal in my new role is to supply as many customers with new cars as possible and make the experience the very best it can be. I think if we constantly get those bits right, everything else should fall in place….easy….ha!
What is your favourite thing about your new role and working at Lloyd Motor Group as a whole?
I have to say my favourite thing is the brand and product I work with. I feel incredibly fortunate I get to drive and be around such a fantastic product. As I mentioned above, a real feeling of being valued by the owners has to be my favourite aspect of working for the company. Things such as flowers with a personal message from Sam and Bryan Lloyd arriving at my home address after the birth of my son is what make this company stand out above the rest.
What’s your favourite way to relax after a busy workday?
A lovely family meal at our local Italian restaurant washed down with a Peroni.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Hopefully running a very successful and consistent Lloyd BMW business full of happy staff.
