Mark is running the Great Cumbrian Run!
On the 6th October, our brilliant Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle New Car Sales Manager, Mark Forster, will be running the Great Cumbrian Run and raising money for the Neuro Physio team at Carleton Clinic.
We could not be prouder of Mark for taking on this challenge and raising money for such an important cause. We caught up with him to see how he is preparing for the Half Marathon.
Tell us about yourself and your role at Lloyd Motor Group
“I first started with Lloyd Motor Group late 2009 as a Sales Executive for Lloyd Jaguar Land Rover. I clearly remember picking up my brand-new Freelander demonstrator and I thought I’d won the lottery! From this point onwards, I spent the next 7 years here with a short spell at Lloyd BMW Carlisle. After this I decided to work self-employed still within the motor trade for a short period, before being appointed back as manager in 2020 at Lloyd Jaguar Land Rover Carlisle, working closely with three other Managers and a team of eight Sales Executives. I have always had a soft spot for Rosehill and when returning in 2020, it felt like I was coming home. The team is brilliant, fantastic customers and Jaguar Land Rover as a brand are great to work with.”
What made you decide to enter the Great Cumbrian Run 2024?
“I wanted to accomplish a life goal before turning 40. It's my 40th Birthday in February 2025 and when I realised it’s the 40th Anniversary of the Great Cumbrian Run this year, it seemed perfect to sign up.”
How have you been preparing for the big day?
“I run 2/3 times per week, some long runs and some short runs but as we get closer to October it’s time toup my game! The plan is 4/5 runs per week with a long one every week.”
What is your favourite song to run to?
“I have a long list of favourite songs but in truth, I don’t listen to music when I run. I find it more relaxing to use the time to clear my thoughts and recap on day.”
What are some of your favourite routes or locations to run?
“The beauty of living in Cumbria is that we aren’t short of picturesque routes. One route that sticks in my mind is running out towards Castle Carrock, on one of the many wet days in July! Albeit the rain was coming in sideways, the beautiful views across the fells made it that little bit more enjoyable.”
Tell us about your chosen charity.
“I am raising funds for the Neuro Physio team at Carleton Clinic after my friend and neighbour suffered a life changing stroke. The team do amazing work supporting survivors in their rehabilitation – regaining mobility, rebuilding strength and confidence, striving towards more independence. The funding will contribute towards more specialised, accessible equipment which in turn will help support rehabilitation goals for those who have suffered a neurological injury and ultimately make a huge difference to their quality of life.”
How will you be celebrating when you complete the race?
“As I plan not to have an alcoholic drink in September as part of my training, no doubt I’ll be having a couple of Moretti’s in the local pub!”
Everyone at Lloyd Motor Group can’t wait to see Mark triumph this challenge and wish him the best of luck for the big day. If you also wish to get involved, you can sponsor Mark's race below.
