MINI Sales Executive, Emily, Shines as a Rainbows Leader
Meet Emily, one of our Sales Executives at Lloyd Blackpool MINI!
Hi Emily! Can you tell us about your career at Lloyd MINI so far, and what drew you to a career with us?
"I have been with Lloyd MINI since April 2021, but had been a customer at Lloyd Motor Group for years before this. I had no idea what I wanted to do in terms of my career back then, but always loved the atmosphere at Lloyd Blackpool when I was in for services with my MINI, as everyone was always so friendly and welcoming.
"When this position became available, something just felt right - Lloyd Blackpool seemed like such a nice place to work and the position would be a great opportunity to meet lots of new people. It also helped that I had an interest in cars in the first place from a young age. I was only in getting new tyres fitted to my MINI where I ended up having an interview while waiting!”
What’s the most rewarding aspect of working as a MINI Sales Executive?
"I love the friendships that I have made with all of my customers. Getting to know each one and hearing their stories is always so interesting. I’ve been lucky to have customers who’ve bought several cars from me over the time I've been here, and I’m thankful for the trust and strong relationships we’ve developed!".
What inspired you to start volunteering with the Rainbows, and how long have you been involved?
"I have been volunteering at Rainbows now for just over 10 years. I initially started volunteering for Rainbows as part of my Duke of Edinburgh award, and started as a young leader before working my way up to becoming a fully-qualified leader".
What’s a typical meeting like for the Rainbows, and what is your role?
"I am an Assistant Unit Leader at Rainbows, meaning that when the main leader is unable to attend, I am the one in charge! The meetings last for an hour every week, and we work towards badges that the girls will receive and are able to wear on their Rainbows uniform. Each week we do different crafts, and we try and mix it up each week to keep it fun. Activities vary from decorating biscuits, making different crafts or learning about different life skills".
Is there a particular experience with the Rainbows that stands out as especially memorable or meaningful to you?
"It is hard to pick just one thing that stands out! I think my main memory is working alongside a child who had additional needs. This was so rewarding seeing them get involved in every task while being able to guide them through the activities".
What do you find most fulfilling about working with the Rainbows?
"I honestly love volunteering at Rainbows and seeing how much the girls grow and change over the 3 years, after joining at the age of 4 and leaving a different person at the age of 7".
What advice would you give to others looking to make time for volunteering?
"If you’re looking to volunteer somewhere, find something that you are passionate about – this will make the whole experience even more rewarding".
