Lloyd Land Rover Triumph at the 2024 JLR Colleague of the Year Awards

Last month, two incredible Lloyd Land Rover representatives attended the final of the 2024 JLR Colleague of the Year Awards.

The esteemed awards ceremony brings together the finest talents of the JLR Network, to recognise and celebrate achievements of those who have delivered exceptional client care over the past year. This is the third consecutive year running that a Lloyd Land Rover employee has been present at the final in their respective categories.

We are delighted to announce our Lloyd Land Rover Leyburn Technician Mathew Stamp, took home the coveted title of JLR Level 2 Technician and our Land Rover York Client Care Advisor, Kayleigh Hebblewaite placed 2nd in the country for Client Care.

Kayleigh Hebblethwaite- Client Care Advisor, Lloyd Land Rover York

Hi Kayleigh, can you talk us through the process of getting to the final of the JLR College of the Year Awards?

"Every participant must go through a series of tests, and after every round a number of contestants are eliminated until the final 6 are decided. You are then invited to the JLR training centre where you carry out a series of exams and role play sessions. This takes a whole day and was extremely challenging. They test you and your knowledge and then at the end of the day, during the award ceremony, the winners are announced."

What was your highlight from the evening?

"The whole evening was a wonderful experience. JLR went above and beyond to create a lovely evening for everyone involved. The entertainment was brilliant, the food was delicious and coming second was just so unexpected!"

What does Client Care mean to you?

"Going the extra mile for a client to ensure they come to us again in the future, because we care. They put their trust in us to look after them and their car, and we want them to enjoy every aspect of their Lloyd experience."

Is there anything you learnt during the process that you will now implement within your own career?

"I learnt a lot from the other contestants, things they do or don’t do. I am always looking at ways I can improve my process."

Matthew Stamp- Level 2 Technician, Lloyd Land Rover Leyburn

Congratulations on winning first place Matthew, can you talk us through the evening of the awards?

"The evening of the awards was truly unforgettable! It was held at St Johns hotel in Solihull and the atmosphere was electrifying. After arriving and mingling with fellow technicians and industry professionals, we enjoyed a delicious dinner. There was a lot of anticipation leading up to the announcement of the winners."

"When my name was called for the JLR Level 2 Technician of the Year award, I felt a rush of emotions—excitement, gratitude, and even a bit of disbelief. I remember stepping up to the stage, looking out at everyone, and feeling honored to represent not just myself, but also my team who’s supported me along the way. The celebration afterward was a great way to connect with others in the industry and share our passion for what we do."

How do you feel about the achievement?

"Winning JLR L2 Technician of the year feels incredibly rewarding. It’s a validation of the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my role as a technician. It reinforces my commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in my craft. I feel proud not only of my own achievements but also of my colleagues and mentors who have guided me throughout my journey. This recognition motivates me to keep pushing my boundaries, learn more, and give back to the community that has supported me."

What advice would you give someone thinking of entering next year?

"My advice would be to genuinely showcase your skills and experiences in your application. Make sure to highlight specific examples of your work and any challenges you've overcome and don't be afraid to let your passion for the industry shine through. Lastly, believe in yourself and your potential—everyone has unique strengths to bring to the table. Entering the competition can help you grow, regardless of the outcome!"
