Daniel gets a distinction!

Company News

This week at Lloyd BMW Cockermouth we celebrate BMW Apprentice Technician Daniel Rudd, and his superb distinction pass.

The BMW Academy Apprenticeship Program is the perfect route for those looking to kickstart for a career within the automotive industry, giving beginners the opportunity to learn whilst they earn, hands on in their chosen trade.

Throughout the duration of his Apprenticeship, Daniel has continued to show a strong passion to learn, dedicating himself to developing his skills and become the best he can be within his trade. We are all delighted to see his hard work pay off when receiving this prestigious grade.

We caught up with Daniel as he reflects on his apprenticeship journey …

Congratulations on your distinction Daniel, tell us about yourself.

“Hi, I am Daniel Rudd and I’m 19 years old. I started this amazing opportunity back in 2021, right after my final year at school. I have always enjoyed being around cars, from racing to going to car festivals so this apprenticeship was the perfect role for me."

Outside of work, I have been completing the 214 Wainwrights for a charity called Walk for Lloyd. We’ve recently won the special award at the pride of Cumbria awards for all of our hard work. A goal of £1,500 was originally in place and we have now got to £15,000!”

How do you feel about finishing your Apprenticeship?

“I feel confident after finishing my apprenticeship and ready to carry on with my technician career. I have been given this fantastic opportunity, and now I want to prove to the company that it was the right decision picking me for the job.”

What did you enjoy most about your Apprenticeship?

“I really enjoyed the training. The BMW academy was an enjoyment every time I was there. Being around other apprentices who are in the same position makes the apprenticeship process much easier, and you can share experiences back in the workplace.”

What advice would you give someone looking to start a BMW Apprenticeship?

“Don’t worry about knowledge or skills when coming into the trade. When I joined at 16, I knew nothing. However, I have let the training do its process and within a couple of months I had gained more knowledge than ever before and developed technical skills that will be with me for a lifetime.”

What’s next in your training journey?

“Next in my training journey, is the door to senior technician level. I will hopefully be able to earn this status within the next couple of years, but for now I want to focus on gaining more Technician experience, knowledge and skills that I require to get there.”

Congratulations to Daniel on this incredible achievement, we can’t wait to see where your journey as a Technician will take you.
