Meet Abbie Barnes, New Car Sales Executive at Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle
“I started with Lloyd Motor Group in July 2021, just over 3 years ago, as a showroom host for Jaguar Land Rover! I was in this role for a year, and realised fairly early on that I wanted to become a Sales Executive.
"I would spend any spare moment learning the product, and after a little while of expressing my interest in sales, Jaguar gave me the opportunity to become a Product Specialist. This role gave me time to learn all the product knowledge and skills to sell, and after 3 months I was a Sales Executive. I was with the Jaguar Sales team for around 2 years, and have since moved on to become a Land Rover Sales Executive and absolutely love it! My favourite part of being in Sales is being able to help people through what can be a stressful time. Making the buying experience as easy as possible for the client is very rewarding.
“The biggest skill I brought into my Sales role from being a Showroom Host is my customer service skills. It was very helpful to have the experience as a Host, as you help so many clients with so many different needs, and I feel like I could talk to anyone!
"For someone looking to make a similar career transition, I would say that Sales isn’t easy; However, it is extremely rewarding. Spend as much time as possible before changing role to learn the skills you need to have to be successful. Be open to learning, as I still learn something new every day! Be confident in yourself, and if you want to progress tell someone, I wouldn’t be where I am if I didn’t ask!"
Quickfire Questions:
- First car? 2019 Seat Ibiza
- Current car? Plug in Hybrid Jaguar E-Pace
- Sweet or savoury? Sweet!
- Summer or winter? Summer.
- Cats or dogs? Can never choose between cats and dogs!
Meet Georgia Earle, Vehicle Progressor at Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle
“Hi, I’m Georgia, I am 20 years old and currently working as a Vehicle Progressor at JLR Carlisle. I enjoy going to the gym, walks in the Lake District and holidays in the sun!
“I started working for Lloyd Motor Group as a Showroom Host. I did this role for around 10 months and then was given the opportunity to move onto the role of Vehicle Progressor, helping to get cars prepared and advertised to be sold
“My favourite part of this role is the fast-paced environment and being closely involved with most departments. It’s nice to work with a range of different people every day and make new friends.
"Communication is one of the main skills I learned as a Host that helps me in my current role. It’s a key part for both jobs - as a Host, you need to be able to listen and help customers get to where they need to be, and in my role you need to be able to communicate with colleagues to achieve the best outcome for each car.
"If had to give advice to someone looking to make a similar career transition, I’d say be confident and express your interest in progressing to a new role in the company, and develop relationships with your colleagues".
Quickfire questions:

- Current car - Volkswagen Golf
- Sweet or Savoury - Savoury
- Summer or Winter - Summer
- Cats or Dogs - Dogs, although I really want a kitten
Meet Kaydyn Boyd, Vehicle Progressor at Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle
“Hi, I’m Kaydyn, I am 19 years old and I am a Vehicle Progressor at Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle. My favorite things to do include chilling with my two shih tzus, eating food and spending time with my friends and family. In my spare time I enjoy making stained glass decorations and I have recently began learning to play the keyboard!
“I started working at Lloyd Motor Group at the end of 2022 as a Showroom Host. After working in this role for around 7 months, I applied for the role of Vehicle Progression and got the job! My favorite part of the role is the people I get to work with every day. I am not subject to one specific department in this role; I work closely with every department, meaning that although we are a large site, I have formed many relationships along the way.
“Working as a Showroom Host taught me how to work in a fast-pace environment and develop my problem-solving skills. This was a very important skill to have when transitioning into my new role. For someone looking to make a similar career transition, I would advise them to bring lots of energy to the role and not be afraid to put themselves out there!”

Meet Victoria Little, Sales Executive at Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle
“Hello, I’m Victoria, I am 29 years old, and my current Role is Land Rover Sales Executive. My Hobbies include walking fells, going for coffee, and singing - I am in a duo, and we do gigs across Carlisle and the surrounding areas!
“I started off as a Showroom Host at Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle, and worked in this role for a year and really enjoyed my time doing this job. There was then room for me to grow into the Product Genuis role, which was a great opportunity to learn the product and have experiences with customers, and set me up to move to my current position as a Sales Executive.
"My favorite part of being a Sales Executive is meeting so many amazing customers and connecting with everyone individually, helping them find the best fit car for them. I also enjoy representing Land Rover as a brand and being able to share my knowledge of the fantastic product that it is.
"I think the most important skills I learned as a Showroom Host are relationship building and communication. I think it’s important to have good relationships with your colleagues and the people around you, and communicate exceptionally with customers to help them get to their end goal.
