Callum gets a promotion!
Meet Callum, our new General Service Manager at Lloyd Blackpool
Congratulations on your new role, can you tell us a bit about your career with Lloyd so far?
"I embarked on my journey with Lloyd Group in June 2018, starting as an Assistant Service Manager after spending six years at Audi. From day one, I felt right at home with the team, embracing the company’s vibrant ethos and dynamic environment. Over the course of four years, the team thrived and due to our ever-growing workshop led to my promotion to Service Manager, where I oversaw BMW, MINI, and our Lloyd Select used centre. After two exciting years in that role, and due to other internal promotions, I am thrilled to take on my new position as General Service Manager. I am honoured to lead such an incredible team and am eagerly looking forward to all the amazing things we will achieve together!"
What are you enjoying most about your new role?
"I am quite ambitious, so I am really enjoying the new challenges this role brings. It definitely keeps my brain active, as I have to make quick, decisive decisions regularly throughout the day. I’m also enjoying interacting more with the technicians and supporting their career development through training plans with the BMW academy."
What do you like the most about working for the BMW Group Brand?
"I love the BMW brand for many reasons. Known as "the ultimate driving machine," BMW lives up to its reputation for driving performance. After 20 years in the motor trade and experiencing numerous manufacturers, I can confidently say BMW offers the best driving experience. I also have a passion for gadgets and technology, and the features in the new BMW models are fantastic. Parking my BMW on my driveway using my mobile phone without sitting in the car is a great party trick! From a work perspective, the training facilities and courses BMW offer are the best I have ever attended."
Talk us through a typical day in your role.
"In my new role, each day is varied and interesting, with new challenges to overcome, big or small. Our main focus is always on customer satisfaction. At Blackpool, we take great pride in ensuring our customers are happy. Every decision we make as a team is driven by the goal of putting our customers first and helping them in the best way possible."
What advice would you give someone looking to start a career in Aftersales?
"I believe a career in aftersales offers a wealth of diverse opportunities. Whether you prefer hands-on work, there are excellent apprenticeship programs for the workshop or Bodyshop. For those who enjoy customer interaction, roles like service advisors are a great fit. Plus, there are numerous management opportunities, such as workshop manager or service manager. The industry is full of variety, and I've seen many people move around, exploring different aspects of the job and embracing new challenges, and even move over to the sales department."
If you could invite 5 people to a dinner party, dead or alive, who would it be?
1. My Great grandad - as I only met him a couple of times when I was really young.
2. Micky Flanagan - to add a bit of humour to the evening.
3. Ana De Armas.
4. Jay Kay (from Jamiroquai) - Ive always loved their music from a young age.
5. Elon Musk – hopefully he pays the bill.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know.
"In my early twenties, I used to be a DJ back in the days of vinyl records. Recently, I got back into it with the more modern equipment and had my first gig in over 10 years just last weekend. Additionally, my wife and I are expecting our first child in December, so 2024 is shaping up to be an incredibly eventful year!"
