The MINI Hatch is a world-renowned vehicle famed for its sporty handling, low centre of gravity and quintessentially British design. If you're considering buying a MINI Hatch, this guide will help you make an informed decision. Here are some key factors to consider:
Decide whether you want to buy a brand-new MINI Hatch or a used one. Purchasing new gives you the latest plate and warranty coverage, but a used MINI Hatch can offer significant savings.
The much-vaunted Go-Kart handling is present and correct in both body sizes of the MINI Hatch. Well weighted steering provides intricate control which, when coupled with the low centre of gravity, provides a precise, energetic driving experience.
The MINI hierarchy goes MINI One, MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper S & MINI John Cooper Works. As you progress the range, the more equipment and better performance is found. Engine size ranges from between 1.2 litres in the MINI One D to a 2-litre turbo charged JCW.
The MINI Hatch is available in Classic, Sport and Exclusive variants. These provide the car with varying stylistic flourishes and equipment levels. The Classic is an entry level option, Exclusive features the MINI Yours Leather Lounge Interior with complimenting leather steering wheel while Sport edition adds a John Cooper Works bodykit and rear spoiler ensuring that there’s a correct option for everyone.
There’s been three generations of the iconic MINI 3-door Hatch since its launch in 2001. Every one of them embodies low-centre-of-gravity handling and exhilarating go-kart feel. 13 years later the 5-door was unleashed into the market. Mixing trademark MINI attitude with more headspace, more legroom and, you guessed it, more doors. The 5 door sacrifices none of the renowned driving dynamics whilst offering further levels of practicality.
Finally, schedule a test drive with your local Lloyd MINI Dealership to experience the MINI Hatch firsthand. Get to know this MINI and ascertain whether or not it’s the right one for you.
Boot Space in the Classic Hatch is 211 litres in the 3 door and 278 litres in the 5 door. Both of these can be increased substantially by folding down either one or both of the split fold rear seats where up to 731 litres or 941 litres (3 door & 5 door respectively) of space can be accessed .
The adage “Good things come in small packages” could have been written about the MINI Hatch.
Smaller in stature than its bigger Brothers and Sisters, The Clubman and Countryman, but just because it’s on the smaller side, doesn’t mean it won’t fit perfectly into your lifestyle. There are great deals to be found on some of our MINI Hatch’s making them perfect for that first car or an exciting city runner.
For such a sporty vehicle the MINI Hatch is bound to both surprise and delight in terms of its fuel economy. The MINI One is capable of up to 52mpg on the WLTP test cycle, the Cooper fairs only slightly worse with 51mpg. Both Sporty variants are also capable of returning a very agreeable 48mpg (Cooper S) and 42mpg (JCW).
While German manufacturer BMW bought MINI in 2000, it’s design is still rooted on the classic Cooper Designs of yester-year. As recently as September 2023, BMW announced that it was to invest hundreds of millions of pounds to prepare its MINI factory near Oxford to build the next generation of Electric cars so the brands futures lies firmly on these shores too.
