What is Motability?

The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to lease a new car, scooter, or powered wheelchair, using their Government funded mobility allowance.

If you or your child receives one of the following allowances and has at least 12 months remaining on the award, you are eligible to lease a car from Motability:

Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment
War Pensioners Mobility Supplement
Armed Forces Independence Payment

How does the Motability Scheme work?

When you lease a MINI as part of the Motability Scheme, everything apart from the fuel is provided as part of the leasing package meaning you can enjoy worry-free driving.

A typical leasing package includes:

60,000 mileage allowance over three years

Am I eligible to join the scheme?

You can apply to join the Motability Scheme if you receive one of these disability allowances:

Higher rate mobility part of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
Enhanced rate mobility part of Adult Disability Payment (Scotland)
Higher rate mobility component of Child Disability Payment (Scotland)

Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

You need to have at least 12 months left on your allowance if you're applying to join the Scheme. If you're unsure, you can check your award length on your allowance award letter, or you can contact your allowance provider.
